Dr. Simon Amir DMD, FICOI - Dentist
A part of Ocala’s medical community, Dr. Simon Amir has been practicing family & cosmetic dentistry locally since 2003. A Florida Gator at heart, Dr. Amir completed his undergraduate studies and Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Florida.
Dr. Amir comes from a family of dentists- his father and identical twin brother are both dentists. His clinical focus is on cosmetic, implant and general dentistry, with an emphasis on patient comfort. He is always learning, and spends many weekends at various courses studying implant dentistry, cosmetics, orthodontics, and digital dentistry.
Dr. Amir is so passionate about his work as a dentist that he volunteers his services to those in need, both internationally and locally. He is Dental Co-Director of the FreeDOM clinic, which provides free dental, medical and optical care once a month to the under-served in our community.
Dr. Amir is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, is past (2019-2020) President of the Marion County Dental Association, and is a Courtesy Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
In his spare time, Dr. Amir enjoys spending time with his wife Adela and two kids, Tristan and Lilly. When he can, he enjoys playing guitar, piano and drums and additionally loves mountain biking. Dr. Amir believes that his dexterity from playing musical instruments has made him a better dentist!
Dr. Michelle Phelan DMD, Dentist
Dr. Phelan attended the University of Florida for her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and her Doctorate in Dental Medicine. She graduated magna cum laude from her undergraduate studies and received an award for Clinical Excellence and Professionalism while in dental school.
Striving to learn more after predoctoral education, Dr. Phelan attended The University of Texas Health at Houston for a one-year residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Throughout her experience, she not only gained 150 continuing education hours in just one year but also ample hands on experience with orthodontics, esthetic dentistry, implants and comprehensive treatment planning. During her residency she also became certified in laser dentistry and received 1st Place in the Star of the South Dental Meeting Scientific Table Clinics.
During her free time, Dr. Phelan enjoys keeping active by running, hiking or working out at the gym. She enjoys almost any activity even more if she can bring her golden retriever, Archer, along with her. Spending the day at the beach with family and friends is one of her favorite adventures. As a double Gator, she loves attending Gator sporting events and when time permits, she loves traveling.
Throughout Dr. Phelan’s dental education and career she has enjoyed volunteering her time abroad and in the local community. Using the unique skills developed in the recent years to help provide compassionate care to those in need is one of the most rewarding experiences for her.
Providing patients’ autonomy in their treatment plans is one of Dr. Phelan’s main goals. Her favorite part of dentistry is building a trusting relationship with each and every patient. Dr. Phelan values knowing the patient not just about their oral health. This relationship, knowledge and trust ensures patients are comfortable choosing treatment and during each appointment.
DR. JOSHUA INSCO, DMD,
DENTIST
Dr. Joshua Insco grew up in Ocala, Florida and now has the amazing opportunity to serve the community that has been so great to him. He moved to Gainesville for his undergraduate studies where he completed his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then attended the University of South Florida and received his Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences before moving to Boston, where he completed his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Boston University.
Dr. Insco is passionate about volunteerism and spends time at numerous clinics such as the Free D.O.M. clinic and WeCare clinic through the Florida Department of Health. During his time at Boston University, he also volunteered as a peer tutor for first year dental students. In his spare time, Dr. Insco enjoys spending time with his family and exploring new hiking trails with his Australian shepherd, Koda. Dr. Insco grew up playing piano and guitar, and spends time writing music whenever he can. He is also an avid Gator fan and is constantly following the Gator’s season no matter the sport.
Dr. Insco strives to provide dental care at the highest standard. His goal is for all patients to have a positive and comfortable experience every time they walk through the door, and will do everything he can to make this happen. He looks forward to earning your trust and meeting you!
DR. JACLYNE HERRERA, DMD DENTIST
Dr. Jaclyne I. Herrera has been a resident of Ocala, Florida since 1994. In 2001, Dr. Herrera graduated from Forest High School as valedictorian of the graduating class. In August of that same year, she attended the University of Miami, majoring in Biochemistry with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish. She graduated cum laude in December 2004, having earned her Bachelor of Science degree.
Dr. Herrera attended the University of Florida on an Army Scholarship from 2007 through 2011. Upon obtaining her degree and licensure, she entered active duty service as a Captain in the Army, honorably serving our men and women in uniform for four years. She completed her Basic Officer Leadership Course training at Fort Sam Houston the summer of 2011. Her first duty station was Fort Polk, Louisiana where, in addition to providing general dentistry services, she developed and implemented a Red Cross Dental Assisting Program for the spouses and/or dependents of active duty military personnel, as well as organized February’s National Children’s Dental Health month activities for the schools and child development centers located on the installation. In August of 2013, Dr. Herrera was transferred to Fort Stewart, Georgia where she provided annual training on various subjects such as DENCOM Infection Control Protocol, Sterilization Protocol, and proper Dental Health Record maintenance. During her time in the military, she earned two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon. She completed her active duty service in June of 2015.
Although she is no longer in the military, Dr. Herrera’s Army values and work ethic are still very much a part of the person she is today. Since separating from military service, Dr. Herrera has been providing gentle, comprehensive general dentistry to residents of Central Florida. She loves her chosen profession, but moreso the relationships she gets to build with each person she treats.
Dr. Herrera is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the Central Florida District Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. While not practicing dentistry, Dr. Herrera enjoys traveling, tending her garden, and spending time with her family.
DR. HAYDEN BELL
Dr. Bell attended the University of Florida for both his Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences and his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. He graduated cum laude from his dental class and was welcomed into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
After graduating, Dr. Bell worked in Gainesville for two and a half years in family dentistry focusing on restorative and esthetic dentistry. Dr. Bell strives to continue his education in many directions including implant dentistry and advanced Endodontics.
Dr. Bell has a passion for treating the underserved through volunteerism in his local community with the FreeDOM clinic as well as abroad with mission trips
In his free time, Dr. Bell enjoys traveling, golfing (poorly), or doing anything outdoors with his dogs Archer and Millie. As a Double Gator, Dr. Bell attends almost all gator home football games and tries to make as many baseball games as he can. He will always know the standing of the gators in any given sports season.
Dr. Bell understands each patient has their own unique ideal smile and oral health goal and pursues individual and customized treatment plans to get them there. He believes patient understanding and education are crucial to their treatment and to the longevity of their oral health.
