She graduated cum laude in December 2004, having earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Herrera attended the University of Florida on an Army Scholarship from 2007 through 2011. Upon obtaining her degree and licensure, she entered active duty service as a Captain in the Army, honorably serving our men and women in uniform for four years. She completed her Basic Officer Leadership Course training at Fort Sam Houston the summer of 2011. Her first duty station was Fort Polk, Louisiana where, in addition to providing general dentistry services, she developed and implemented a Red Cross Dental Assisting Program for the spouses and/or dependents of active duty military personnel, as well as organized February’s National Children’s Dental Health month activities for the schools and child development centers located on the installation. In August of 2013, Dr. Herrera was transferred to Fort Stewart, Georgia where she provided annual training on various subjects such as DENCOM Infection Control Protocol, Sterilization Protocol, and proper Dental Health Record maintenance. During her time in the military, she earned two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon. She completed her active duty service in June of 2015. Although she is no longer in the military, Dr. Herrera’s Army values and work ethic are still very much a part of the person she is today. Since separating from military service, Dr. Herrera has been providing gentle, comprehensive general dentistry to residents of Central Florida. She loves her chosen profession, but moreso the relationships she gets to build with each person she treats. Dr. Herrera is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and the Central Florida District Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. While not practicing dentistry, Dr. Herrera enjoys traveling, tending her garden, and spending time with her family.
